Every security system you install — cameras, access control, alarms, intercoms — runs on the network and cabling underneath it. When that foundation is rushed or undersized, the whole system suffers: dropped camera feeds, slow access response, and costly troubleshooting. Michigan Security Systems installs the structured cabling and network infrastructure that commercial security depends on, designed and certified to industry standards.
We handle Cat6/Cat6A and fiber cabling, network switches, PoE infrastructure for cameras and access devices, wireless access points, and equipment racks — using proven hardware from Cisco, Ubiquiti / UniFi, Netgear, and D-Link. Whether you're building out a new facility, expanding, or cleaning up years of patchwork wiring, our technicians deliver organized, labeled, and documented cabling that's easy to service and ready to scale.
Because we're a security integrator first, we size and segment your network with security in mind — keeping camera and access traffic isolated and reliable. The result is infrastructure that not only supports today's systems but leaves room for tomorrow's, all installed by our own licensed team.
Structured cabling and network services for new construction and existing facilities.
A licensed MSS technician walks your facility, identifies coverage gaps and risk points, and reviews your goals — no subcontractors, no guesswork.
We engineer a system around your building, budget, and compliance needs, specifying the right equipment for each zone rather than a one-size package.
Our own certified technicians handle the full installation — cabling, mounting, configuration, and testing — to code and to manufacturer spec.
We train your team and provide ongoing service, monitoring, and maintenance so the system keeps performing for years.
We build on proven networking and cabling hardware, selected and sized for your facility and your security systems.
This is a representative sample of the platforms we install — not a complete list. We are brand-independent and source the right equipment for your project.
Every camera, card reader, intercom, alarm panel, access point, and phone in your building runs on the cabling and network underneath it. When that foundation is undersized or rushed, the whole system suffers — dropped camera feeds, laggy door control, dead Wi-Fi zones, and constant service calls. Build it right once and everything on top of it just works.
Cat6A supports 10 Gigabit speeds across the full 100-meter run and handles PoE++ reliably — the headroom modern 4K cameras, Wi-Fi 6E/7 access points, and AV-over-IP need. It's the professional choice for new commercial cabling.
For links between buildings, floors, or runs beyond copper's reach, single-mode and multi-mode fiber carry massive bandwidth with immunity to electrical interference — ideal for campus environments and long warehouse runs.
We budget Power-over-Ethernet properly so cameras, readers, and APs get stable power even at full load. Poor PoE planning is a leading cause of devices that quietly drop offline on cold nights or under heavy use.
Because we're a security integrator first, we isolate camera and access traffic from your business network — keeping critical security devices reliable and reducing cyber-exposure.
Clean server rooms with labeled racks, patch panels, and cable management to BICSI standard — with test documentation so future service is fast, not a guessing game.
We design with headroom so you can add cameras, doors, and devices later without ripping out and re-pulling cable. Spending slightly more upfront on Cat6A and fiber is far cheaper than replacing underbuilt cabling in three years.

The cabling conversation usually starts with one question: Cat6, Cat6A, or fiber? All three have a place. Cat6 still serves shorter desk drops in smaller offices where interference is low, but it only sustains 10-gigabit speeds to about 55 meters and struggles to deliver higher PoE levels cleanly over distance. For any new commercial structured-cabling project in 2026, Cat6A has become the standard — it holds 10 Gbps across the full 100-meter distance, dissipates heat better for sustained high-power PoE, and is recommended for Wi-Fi 7 access points and AV-over-IP.
Fiber changes the equation for distance and interference. Where runs exceed copper's reach, connect separate buildings, or link floors and switches, fiber carries far more bandwidth with no electrical interference. The smartest commercial designs are usually hybrid: a fiber backbone between switches and floors, with Cat6A distributing data and power to cameras, readers, access points, and workstations at the edge.
Whatever the medium, installation quality decides real-world performance. Proper bend radius, clean terminations, correct conduit fill, code-compliant fire ratings, and certified testing are what separate a system that delivers its rated speed for a decade from one that generates mystery outages. We pull, terminate, label, test, and document every run — so your infrastructure is an asset, not a liability.
